Kidney stone cases increasing in the US for both men and women, the study indicates the extensiveness of kidney stones for a period of three decades from 1984 to 2012, among the 10,000 inhabitants of Minnesota. The graph of kidney stones has quadrupled among women and doubled among men.

The excessive rise in cases was found in women aged 18 to 39, leapfrogging from 62 to 252 cases in 1984 to 2012.  One person-year is a year lived by each participant for the duration of the study. Dr. John Lieske, a professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a lead author of the study said that we are able to perceive a fascinating blend of things; surely they have risen both in men and women quite a bit.

The definite rise has been the same as the women commenced quite a bit lower 30 years ago; therefore, their percentage has been on the rise bit more. Kidney stones are comparatively common agitating around 10% of people at some point in their lives. Lieske said that they are spawned by rigid chunks of material that harden in the kidney, ureters or bladder because of numerous genetic and environmental factors.

He also said that many times it is genetics. Another reason may be excessive calcium in the urine which is definitely an important factor. Other reasons may include incorrect diet or reduction in the intake of fluids.

According to Dr. Ralph Clayman, a professor of urology at the University of California, Irvine and an expert on kidney stone disease said that kidney stones are prominently throbbing with pain and is the instigator of Renal colic that comes in waves and escalates from lower back to inner thigh.
