Snapchat Launched an In-App Snap Store

Snapchat launched an in-app Snap Store. Today, the company released a full-fledged merchandise store in the app. The new Snap store lives in the Discover section of the Snapchat’s app.

The service allows you to buy Snapchat merchandise items like a $30 Dog Lens T-Shirt or a $20 Dancing Hot Dog Plushie. It also lets you buy Snap-themed items like a fire emoji Snap streak hat ($29.99), and a “Bring back best friends” sweatshirt ($49.99), and a Winkface sweatshirt ($49.99).

The launch of this new feature was scheduled for October 21st, but it was delayed until now, according to a report.

Last October, Snapchat sold some items like a Dancing Hot Dog Halloween costume and a Ghostface Chillah backpack on Amazon, and also sold Spectacles camera sunglasses through its pop-up shops, Snap Bots, online, and retail partnerships. But now the company is selling the things directly through its app rather than via Amazon or other retail partners.

The company’s goal is not to make money to save the company, but it probably proves that if this sort of storefront works well, another brand may join the platform. A Snapchat spokesperson didn’t reveal official comment but stated that Snapchat launched an in-app Snap store for its community.

To open the Snap store and purchase these items, you will need to scan the Snap Code. According to the store, page items are available for limited time and will disappear from the store without warning. The next round of merch product drop happens on February 8th.
