The brand-new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will debut sometime next year. The American carmaker has given the poorly cropped teaser image of the huge truck.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 doesn’t include bold features like space-age materials, iPad-sized touchscreens, and electrified powertrains while the new car boasts technologies that cover toughness and capability.
Frist production of the new truck will start sometime in the third quarter of 2019 from Flint, Michigan. The teaser image shows that the heavy-duty truck will include an updated truck face and a front and center chrome appliqué between the grille and headlights.
Three engines will be available including a new turbocharged 3.0-liter Duramax diesel six-cylinder that will offer 445 horsepower at 2800 rpm, and 910 lb-ft of torque at 1600 rpm. Besides, GM will also offer updated versions of the 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines.
A new Dynamic Fuel Management technology will be used by V8 engines, while 3.0-liter diesel and 6.2-liter V8 will have start-stop technology supported by 10-speed automatic transmission developed by General Motors.
Chevy says the Silverado HD will indicate the launching of “three all-new Silverados in 18 months.” The 1500 model revealed in January and the 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD chassis cab models made their debut in March. And now the 2500HD and 3500HD are expected to come out in the first half of 2019.
GM’s global product development chief, Mark Reuss said, “Our mixed-materials strategy provides a clear advantage for us.” “We selected the right material for each application and optimized every component for mass, durability, safety, and function, all to meet the needs of our customers,” Reuss added.
